NFC East Update
A day after being spurned by now Colt Frank Gore, the Philadelphia Eagles wasted no time signing running back Ryan Mathews formerly of the San Diego Chargers. The Eagles and Mathews agreed to a 3-year $11.5 million contract with $5 million guaranteed. Chip Kelly finally signs the inside power runner he has been searching for since the trade of LeSean McCoy last week. Philly actually ended up spending less money on Mathews than what they would of paid for Gore in the process while getting a younger back. However, the issue that’s plagued Mathews his entire career has been durability as he has only played one full 16 game schedule in his five-year career. Mathews will be the lead back in a timeshare that will include Darren Sproles and Chris Polk which will hopefully keep him healthy and available throughout the season.
