The word of the week is “identity”! There are teams in this league who have yet to figure out who they are and what they should be doing to name of few, the Seahawks and the Bucs. While others remembered who they are the Titans for one and those who may have found that identity such as the Eagles.
Last week it was clarity and now identities are starting to form so you now know who you may be able to trust in Fantasy Football on a more consistent basis moving into Week 4. Fantasy Football Start/Sit – Week 4
Start – Jared Goff vs Cowboys
With last week’s Thursday night performance against the 49ers, Jared Goff had his best game as a pro and to be honest, I don’t see that slowing down this week with the likes of the Dallas Cowboys defense which is a Cover 2 base bend but don’t break defense; which I feel Sean McVay knows all to well from his time in that division with the Redskins. When you play that type of defense with the type of weapons that the Rams have in a Todd Gurley who has become a staple in the passing game, Goff’s partner in crime/ favorite target Cooper Kupp and the 3 big player makers in Robert Woods, Gerald Everett and Sammy Watkins it’s only a matter of time before there is a coverage bust or missed tackle or two before one of those players hits pay dirt. I expect plenty of fire works in this one.
- Russell Wilson vs Colts
- Eli Manning vs Bucs
- Dak Prescott vs Rams
- Jay Cutler vs Saints
Sit – Cam Newton vs Patriots
This may be the year to “punt” on all things Panthers except Christian McCaffrey (sheer volume saves him). The offense at this point for the Panthers has been abysmal and if it wasn’t for the Panther defense this team would be o-3 and folks being terminated, but enough of that talk. The Patriots have had trouble containing duel threat QBs just look back to last week with Deshaun Watson having his best game and this week the Pats have to sure this up because they are playing the best at that in Cam Newton. The one thing you can count on is that the Patriots more often than not fix their flaws quickly and with the Panthers offense out of sorts, I don’t believe this to be a good thing for “Super Man” Cam Newton.
Start – Jacquizz Rodgers vs Giants
The Bucs offense is designed to go down the field with multiple vertical routes but predicated off of the PA pass and what do you need for that to work? BINGO!!! The run game and this week there are two factors at play here that I believe will make Jacquizz Rodgers or even Peyton Barber (in deeper leagues) viable “start” options. #1 Bucs ran the ball 8 times with their RBs last week and Winston threw 28/40 and 3 int. in a loss. #2 The Giants have the worst run defense in the league giving up 460 yards for the year and 153.5 per game so far. Also running the ball slows the game down and keeps the likes of Odell Beckham on the sideline and away from the susceptible secondary of the Bucs.
- Ty Montgomery vs Bears
- Chris Carson vs Colts
- C.J. Anderson vs Raiders
- Chris Thompson vs Chiefs
Marshawn Lynch vs Broncos
This is just simple math. The Broncos give up 59.7 yards per game and only 179 yards for the year thus far. If you have another option do it. DON’T play with ya money!!!
Start – Cooper Kupp vs Cowboys
I said this earlier Cooper Kupp is Goff’s favorite target! In fact Kupp and his wife lived with Goff this off-season at some point. The rapport between the two is undeniable and I stated pre-draft whoever drafts this guy is getting a QB’s best friend on and off the field. Points will be scored in this game and Kupp will get his. McVay has developed an offense that is fun and exciting to watch and the Cowboys are willing to let you move the ball down the field tightening up the closer you get to their endzone. Receptions to come and to come in bunches.
- Jarvis Landry vs Saints
- Nelson Agholor vs Chargers
- Sterling Shepard vs Bucs
- Emmanuel Sanders vs Raiders
- Tyrell Williams vs Eagles
- Marqise Lee vs Jets
Terrelle Pryor vs Chiefs
I know we are only 3 games into the season but as it stands the man that many were high on outside of Amari Cooper coming into this season has only 10 receptions for 116 yards, that factors out to be 53 receptions for 620 yards. Of course I don’t think that he’ll finish with such pedestrian numbers based off of his talent and the offense he is in. But just keep this in mind, Josh Doctson looks to be healthy and Chris Thompson is a huge factor in this offense. There is still time but I don’t believe this is the week to think Pryor breaks out against the Chiefs defense that can get after the passer and has a damn good secondary.
Start – Eric Ebron vs Vikings
We have been waiting on Eric Ebron since he was drafted to become that GUY with all that potential. Blocking wise that seems to have come along and I believe health was another factor and it seems that is no longer an issue, “knock on some wood”. I know this is a vaunted Vikings defense but they are susceptible to the TE given up 2 touchdowns on 15 receptions in three games. Ebron is primed and ready with the way the Lions run their offense using Theo Riddick and Ameer Abdullah out the backfield to put pressure on the linebackers and safeties leaving Ebron an opportunity to get ample work.
- Evan Engram vs Bucs
- Charles Clay vs Falcons
- Julius Thomas vs Saints
Austin Hooper vs Buffalo
The Bills are rated in the top ten against TEs this year thus far and this defense which I thought would need a year to see bear fruit has quickly become a team that can keep them in games. Austin Hooper has done most of his damage in one game on two busted coverage plays. I wouldn’t start him this week and tread lightly when thinking of choosing him to start unless you are playing a team who lets TEs run free all over the field.
Defense to stream
Arizona Cardinals vs 49ers
I know Brian Hoyer dropped 39 points last week but don’t fall for “the banana in the tail pipe” the Cards got this!!!
