Fantasy Football Waiver Wire (Add/Drop) – Week 10

Quarterbacks

Add – Josh McCown – New York Jets

The New York Jets are currently playing a good brand of football and it looks like they’ve saved Head Coach Todd Bowles’ job. Bowles came into the season on the hot seat after a dismal 2016 campaign but after getting rid of some veterans, the Jets are buying into what he is selling. One main reason for the team’s success is none other than journeyman quarterback Josh McCown.  McCown is a fantasy asset that needs to be rostered as he has brought stability and leadership to a position that the Jets have missed in the draft for four consecutive seasons from 2013-2016. McCown sits as the best quarterback on your waivers and if you’re in a pinch due to injuries or bye weeks then he is your guy.

Other Players who deserve an Add

  • Jacoby Brissett Indianapolis Colts
  • Jimmy Garoppolo San Francisco 49ers
  • Case Keenum Minnesota Vikings

Drop – Jameis Winston  Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Running Backs

Add – Kenyan Drake Miami Dolphins

One of the biggest questions going into Week 9 was, “Is it Kenyan Drake or Damien Williams in the Dolphins backfield?” After jettisoning starting running back Jay Ajayi to the Philadelphia Eagles, the Dolphins left a huge void at the running back position. We have one game of data to decipher and by the look of things it will be an even split/hot hand approach. They both played around the same number of snaps, got around the same number of touches and both got involved in the passing game. The difference is that Williams got in the end zone while Drake was more effective as a runner. I have both players in one of my money leagues and feel safer starting Drake over Williams. The Dolphins might trust Williams a bit more due to his pass blocking acumen but Drake is the more dynamic playmaker. The coaching staff will give Drake every chance to succeed as this is their guy that they’ve invested a 3rd round pick on.

Other Players who deserve an Add
  • Marlon Mack Indianapolis Colts
  • Latavius Murray Minnesota Vikings
  • Matt Forte New York Jets
  • Danny Woodhead Baltimore Ravens
  • Damien Williams  Miami Dolphins

Drop – Mike Gillislee New England Patriots

Wide Receivers

Add – Josh Doctson Washington Redskins

It seems like we’ve been waiting for a Redskins wide receiver to break out all season long. First we were relying on Terrelle Pryor and Jamison Crowder to replace the production put up by Pierre Garcon and DeSean Jackson last season, but in the last couple of weeks we are now waiting on last year’s first round pick Josh Doctson to explode on the scene. The 2nd year receiver has played over 80% of the snaps in consecutive weeks but his stat line/fantasy production still isn’t to the point where he is dependable to insert in your starting lineups. I say scoop him up though as he is so close to breaking out and becoming the Redskins number one receiver. Each week he does something amazing on the field and had the game changing 4th quarter reception to beat the Seahawks last week. If Kirk Cousins and the Redskins give Doctson more targets in the offense, then he can in turn be a reliable WR3 with WR2 upside.

Other Players who deserve an Add
  • Corey Davis Tennessee Titans
  • Robert Woods Los Angeles Rams
  • Martavis Bryant Pittsburgh Steelers
  • DeDe Westbrook Jacksonville Jaguars
  • Marquise Goodwin San Francisco 49ers
  • Marqise Lee Jacksonville Jaguars
  • Corey Coleman Cleveland Browns

Drop – Terrelle Pryor Washington Redskins

Tight Ends

Add – Tyler Kroft Cincinnati Bengals

Outside of A.J. Green there aren’t many Bengals’ pass catchers that can be trusted in fantasy football. Brandon LaFell is Brandon LaFell, John Ross can’t stay healthy, Tyler Boyd has his own health concerns and the talented tight end Tyler Eifert is gone for the season once again. This leaves Tyler Kroft as the second most dependable weapon in the passing game for Andy Dalton. Kroft is a good pickup considering what the TE position has been outside of the top guys at the position. Kroft should get you around 4 catches, score a TD or gain about 50 yards going forward. The issue is that all three are probably unlikely to happen in the same game. It’s a bit of a Russian Roulette play but at this point it’s not the worst you can do.

Other Players who deserve an Add
  • Ben Watson  Baltimore Ravens
  • Julius Thomas Miami Dolphins

Drop – Martellus Bennett
