Fantasy Football Start/Sit Week 13
Start – Philip Rivers vs Browns
Don’t look now but the Los Angeles Chargers and Philip Rivers are on roll that could lead them all the way to the playoffs. Rivers will be a strong play going forward that can lead your fantasy teams straight to the championship. In the last two games, Rivers has thrown for 685 yards 5 touchdowns and 0 interceptions. His remaining schedule consists of: the Browns, Redskins, Chiefs, Jets and Raiders who’ve all struggled against the pass this season. The Browns have been stingy against the run this year (until last week’s Joe Mixon’s breakout performance) unwittingly funneling copious amounts of fantasy points through the air. The Chargers gave the Browns their only win last season and best believe that the petty Rivers didn’t forget about that and is eager to tear them apart this coming Sunday.
Sit – Andy Dalton vs Steelers
Start – Jordan Howard vs 49ers
Must be a great feeling to look at the schedule and see the San Francisco 49ers especially after facing the top rush defense in the NFL Philadelphia Eagles and going for 6 yards on 7 carries a week ago. The 49ers are a prime bounce back spot for Howard and his fantasy owners as they rank 30th in rushing yards allowed per game. When targeting a running back in fantasy, the best approach is to follow a run heavy game script. The Niners offense may get a boost this week with Jimmy Garoppolo under center but a subpar opposing offense is a good sign when choosing running backs to start or sit due to the likelihood that their team will be playing with a lead, which ultimately gives you more carries in the game. Volume is king and Howard should get at least 20 carries this week unless Garoppolo channels his inner Tom Brady and go bonkers on the Bears defense.
- Alvin Kamara vs Panthers
- Marshawn Lynch vs Giants
- Jerick McKinnon vs Falcons
- Dion Lewis vs Bills
- Alex Collins vs Lions
Sit – DeMarco Murray vs Texans
Start – Cooper Kupp vs Cardinals
Let’s go back to the well this week with Cooper Kupp of the Los Angeles Rams who proved to be a strong start recommendation in Week 12. Kupp had his best game of his career against a New Orleans Saints defense that was missing their two starting cornerbacks. He exploited that matchup with a season/career high 8 catches and 116 yards and led the team with 11 targets without the Rams number 1 receiver Robert Woods in the lineup. Woods will be out again this week against the Cardinals which puts Kupp back in the spotlight to receive 10+ targets. Sammy Watkins also benefited from the absence of Woods with 9 targets, 4 catches for 82 yards and a score; however he will probably get the Patrick Peterson treatment this week as he did in the first matchup between the Rams and Cardinals this season. The Cardinals have been susceptible to slot receivers all season long which makes Kupp a great start in back-to-back weeks.
- Brandin Cooks vs Bills
- Keenan Allen vs Browns
- Davante Adams vs Buccaneers
- Devin Funchess vs Saints
- Robby Anderson vs Chiefs
- Dede Westbrook vs Colts
Sit – T.Y. Hilton vs Jaguars
Start – Delanie Walker vs Texans
With a TE position of Russian Roulette there are only a couple of guys you can trust weekly. Delanie Walker is as safe as it gets due to Marcus Mariota locking in on the veteran in the passing game. My biggest gripe with Mariota, other than he gets too much hype, is that he struggles to push the ball downfield to the outside. The system is designed to attack in the middle of the field and Walker more often than not is the main beneficiary. Over his last 5 games Walker has at least 4 catches for 60 yards and can be played safely as a TE1. The Texans defense has struggled all seasaon against the pass making this a sweet matchup.
Sit – Austin Hooper vs Vikings
Defense to stream
Los Angeles Chargers vs Browns
The Chargers defense will be humming this week against the lowly Browns. DeShone Kizer has been a turnover machine and with Bosa and Ingram chasing him down, it will be a long afternoon for the rookie.
