Bell up! Brady down…

AFC North Update

Pittsburgh Steelers’ star running back Le’Veon Bell will have his three game suspension reduced by one game. The suspension stems from Bell violating the league’s substance abuse policy last season. This is certainly welcomed news by the Pittsburgh Steelers organization, fans and fantasy owners alike. Bell’s talent is immense. A true three-down back with incredible rushing and receiving chops that gets all the goal-line work is like a “Unicorn” in today’s NFL. The Steelers brought in former Carolina Panthers’ running back DeAngelo Williams to be Bell’s primary backup and the 32-year-old is expected start the first two games of the season in Bell’s stead.

AFC East Update

Brady
Tom Brady

As for Tom Brady, NFL Commissioner Roger Goddell has finally made a decision and will uphold Brady’s four game suspension stemming from “Deflategate.” Brady/NFLPA will sue and take matters to Federal Court. It has also been reported that the Brady will seek an injunction so that he can play while the legal matters are worked out so there’s a chance that Brady won’t miss any games to start the 2015 season despite Goddell’s decision. Numerous reports suggest that Brady destroyed his cell phone (item of interest) prior to meeting with the NFL with regards to the Wells Report. Brady’s lack of cooperation during the investigation is part of the reason why the NFL didn’t budge on his suspension. Bloomberg’s Scott Soshnick reports that the NFL has asked the U.S. District Court in Manhattan to “confirm” Brady’s suspension. Effectively, the NFL is attempting to beat Tom to the punch and sue him. This appears to be a tactical move by the NFL to garner a favorable venue if/when this case goes to court. If indeed Brady misses any games 2nd year pro Jimmy Garopplo will start at quarterback for the New England Patriots.
