Biggest question for each AFC Offense

Can the Patriots find a trade partner for Jimmy Garoppolo?

The Patriots 2014 second round pick is now a favorite to land somewhere else as a starting quarterback. Jimmy G’s rookie contract is set to expire and there are a plethora of teams in need of a starting signal caller. The quarterback position is moderately weak in this upcoming draft so a trade is a possibility; but for what price?

Is Ryan Tannehill the future in Miami?

The Dolphins will have a decision to make very soon if the recently injured Tannehill has plateaued as an average NFL quarterback. Head coach Adam Gase is not tied to Tannehill so if he doesn’t see improvement the quarterback could be on his way out of Miami.

What will the Bills do with Tyrod Taylor?

After the expected Rex Ryan failure in Buffalo, the Bills now have a decision on what to do with their $92 million quarterback. Six years $92 million is what the Bills gave Taylor last season and it seems they now have buyer’s remorse. Taylor is not going to restructure his contract and I don’t blame him.

Will the Jets draft another quarterback for the 5th year in a row?

There is a saying, “that if first you don’t succeed, dust yourself off and try again.” Well, the Jets have tried 4 straight seasons and still haven’t found their next quarterback. I’m hearing Tony Romo in New York but if that doesn’t work out, do they go down the path of drafting another quarterback to compete with Geno Smith, Bryce Petty and Christian Hackenberg.

Will Martavis Bryant be reinstated this season?

The Steelers were my Super Bowl pick until I heard Bryant was suspended for the season. He is the ying to Antonio Brown’s yang. If the Steelers want to dethrone the Patriots, Bryant needs to get on the field.

Can new senior offensive assistant Greg Roman turn the Ravens offense around?

The Ravens need better receiving weapons. The Ravens need to run the football better. The Ravens need QB Joe Flacco to play like the franchise quarterback they were hoping for after his Super Bowl victory. Greg Roman and OC Marty Mornhinweg will need to find the answers if the Ravens want to get back to the playoffs.

Can the Bengals offensive playmakers finally have a healthy season?

Who had more injuries to their offense than the 2016 Bengals? AJ Green missed games, Tyler Eifert missed games, Gio Bernard missed games. Let see how Andy Dalton performs with all his weapons healthy before we write him off.

Should the Browns draft a QB with pick 1 or trade/sign a veteran?

The big debate is what will the Browns do at 1. I’m not mad at the Browns if they draft the most imposing defensive player in the draft Myles Garrett, however what happens if they whiff at the quarterback position in free agency. Do they draft Garrett or get their number 1 quarterback on the board? Decisions! Decisions!!

Do the Texans believe Brock is the answer?

I know what we at CPGM think, “Hell to the Nah!” But does the quarterback “guru” Bill O’Brien and the Texans front office feel the same way. I’m hearing open competition with Tom Savage. The Texans must decide if they should cut their losses or be stubborn.

Does Marcus Mariota need a big play receiver on the outside?

I believe the Titans should prioritize their defense this offseason, especially the secondary. However, with Kendall Wright on his way out, the Titans will need to grab more weapons for Mariota. Do they prefer a big guy on the outside? Or an inside guy that Mariota could find in his sweet spot?

Will the new GM Chris Ballard prioritize the trenches for the Colts?

The last GM Ryan Grigson failed miserably to build this team from the inside out. Instead he almost got his franchise QB Andrew Luck killed while having a marshmellowy soft defense. I’m sure the new GM will prioritize the offensive and defensive lines early and often.

Can Doug Marrone fix Blake Bortles mechanics?

A year after putting up big passing numbers Bortles regressed substantially in 2016. It would of been hard to match 4428 yards and 35 touchdowns but Bortles’ mechanics were horrible as his patented fade away passes and from the knees wind up was hard to watch.

What will the Chiefs do with Jamaal Charles?

Crazy to imagine but Jamaal Charles can now be considered expendable after back to back injury riddled seasons. The Chiefs had no problems winning regular season games without Charles but do they need his playmaking ability in the playoffs? Interesting decision for the Chiefs.

Will the Raiders bring back Latavius Murray?

A tough break for the Oakland Raiders losing star QB Derek Carr a couple of games before the playoffs began. The key decision they will have though will be at a different position, the running back position. Murray somehow is not who the Raiders covet as they tried replacing him the last two seasons. Is this the offseason they will be successful in finding a new running back?

Is the offensive line the only issue in Denver?

A year after winning the Super Bowl spearheaded by their defense, Von Miller and company couldn’t carry the Broncos to the playoffs. The offensive line was putrid and will definitely need an upgrade. However the team must make a decision on Paxton Lynch. Is it time to start Lynch?

Can Keenan Allen play 16 games?

Phillip Rivers is one of the best quarterbacks in the league but the weapons around him have been lacking for some time now. If it’s not the offensive line struggling then it’s his playmakers on the outside not getting it done. A big reason for the Chargers struggles of late is the health of their star receiver Keenan Allen. If Allen can play 16 games next season it will be a nice boost for a team whose defense is improving.
