AFC West Update
The Chargers have agreed with CB Brandon Flowers to a 4-year $36 million deal. After surprisingly being cut by the Chiefs last season the Chargers signed Flowers to a one-year $3 million contact just before the 2014 season began. Flowers flourished last season in San Diego’s secondary and graded out as a top 15 cornerback by Pro Football Focus which in turn landed him this deal. The Chargers re-signing of Flowers keeps a formidable secondary intact with second year pro Jason Verrett at the other corner and pro bowl safety Eric Weddle roaming the middle of the field. It also means that yet another corner is off the market which will ultimately drive up the asking prices of those corners that become unrestricted free agents on Tuesday. Look for the Chargers to focus their attention on a pass rusher next, a dire need.
