Brandon Spikes released after hit and run?

Brandon Spikes

AFC East Update

The Patriots wasted little time in releasing newly signed Brandon Spikes after police stated they will investigate him for a hit and run incident. Details of the incident are still murky but the Patriots obviously weren’t interested in additional details.

Initial reports of the incident state that Spikes’ registered automobile was found damaged and abandoned on I-495 in Foxborough. Police were first notified by a representative of the OnStar on-board navigation system stating the driver hit a deer. When police arrived at the scene the driver was not present.

A short time later police responded to a report in the same area in which three occupants of another vehicle were rear-ended. The occupants did not see the driver of the vehicle that hit them.

Spikes has now been released less than a month after the Patriots re-signed him after a one year stint in Buffalo. The Patriots, in particular coach Bill Belicheck has had issues with Spikes in the past. It’s clear that the linebacker was on a short leash. Brandon Spikes will now re-enter a quiet market for almost certainly less than the 2 million he signed with New England for.
