NFC West Update
Do you remember the days of CJ2k? A 2-4 year period where Chris Johnson was must see T.V. and arguably the most exciting player in the NFL. It’s certainly been a while since then as the soon to be 30-year-old running back has signed a one-year deal with the Arizona Cardinals. This after Bruce Arians publicly voiced his displeasure with his running back situation in terms of health/durability. Andre Ellington will be the starter but after an injury plagued campaign last season it seems the Cardinals don’t believe he can be a bell-cow. Rookie, 3rd round selection David Johnson has struggled with injuries throughout training camp and has not had an opportunity to earn the coaching staff’s trust. The NFL Network reports that “if” Johnson makes the 53-man roster the deal will be worth a maximum of $2 million. It should be noted that Johnson no longer is adept at gaining yards after contact but still has impressive speed and averaged 4.3 yards a carry (155) in 2014.
