Eagles snag Byron Maxwell

NFC East Update

The very busy Philadelphia Eagles in a move to sure up the league’s second worst secondary in 2014 have signed Byron Maxwell who many believed to be the top cornerback in this year’s free agent class to a six-year $63 million deal with $25 million guaranteed. No surprise here with the Eagles signing Maxwell or with the price of the contract. Maxwell has been linked to the Eagles and Chip Kelly’s putrid secondary for weeks the leading up to the start of the new league year. Also, the Kareem Jackson deal of $8.5 million annually set the market for Maxwell to earn north of $10 million per year. The fourth member of the Legion of Boom has cashed in the last couple of years with Walter Thurmond and Brandon Browner last season and now Byron Maxwell this year, Jeremy Lane you are up next. The Eagles continue to be very active this off-season. Will this propel them to a deep playoff run or will they look back and have buyer’s remorse?
