Exploiting The Fantasy Football Matchup in Week 6.
By: Matthew Lotshaw @nostraballus
The 49ers secondary are out there playing tag. It’s been a revolving door of folks getting beat. No continuity plus no pass rush spells trouble for them this week on Monday Night Football. Last week Davante Adams finally woke up with 12 targets, 9 catches, 140 yards and a touchdown. Look for him to continue to eat this week as Aaron Rodgers main guy.
Another projected shootout in the dome. Whenever you’re playing against the Falcons, it’s a great idea to target players on both sides of the football. Jameis Winston is back as the signal caller and it’s a perfect time to fire him up against a Falcons defense that allows the second most points per game at 32.6. Start all your Bucs: Mike Evans, DeSean Jackson, Chris Godwin, Cameron Brate and sneaky plays Adam Humphries and Ronald Jones.
The Chiefs are 5-0 and hitting on all cylinders. However, their weakness continues to be their defense, more particularly their inability to slow down oppositions running backs. The numbers speak for itself but what’s most damaging is their lack of success against backs in the passing game. Enter the New England Patriots who are the best at getting their backs the football in space. James White is a lock to put up big receiving numbers and I wouldn’t be surprised if he finishes as a Top 5 fantasy back this week. Sony Michel is more game flow dependent but I expect for him to be a great option as well.
The Steelers defense have improved a bit since the first couple of weeks in the season by bringing more pressure, but that doesn’t mean they’re any good. This fun divisional rivalry is a sneaky game to target in fantasy as both offenses have been clicking thus far. Andy Dalton had a predictable letdown last week against the Dolphins but this a prime bounce back spot. The Steelers defense is a matchup to exploit, therefore fire up Dalton, A.J Green, Tyler Boyd, Joe Mixon, and my favorite sleeper of the week C.J Uzomah.
We already discussed the other side of the ball above but do you know which team has a worse defense than the Atlanta Falcons, yep you guessed it the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Bucs are given up a league worst 34.8 points per game and they don’t have the excuse as the Falcons missing several stars in their unit. They’re just flat out bad covering down the field and making tackles to ball carriers. Matt Ryan and the explosive Falcons offense are licking their chops to get back in the win column. Start the usual suspects and you will not be be disappointed. Note: Devonta Freeman is ruled out, therefore Tevin Coleman is a must play and Ito Smith is a sneaky play.
The Broncos defense was obliterated by the lowly Jets offense last week led by rookie quarterback Sam Darnold, so what do you expect the best offense in football to do to them this week. Ball!!! Don’t overthink this matchup and get cute. Pay up for Todd Gurley, Jared Goff and the trio of receiving weapons the Rams possess.
