Falcons get help in the trenches

NFC South Update

The Atlanta Falcons bolster their interior offensive line with the signing of offensive guard Chris Chester. Chester started every game for the Redskins the last four seasons but was cut by his former team earlier this week because he didn’t fit their power running scheme. The Falcons wasted no time signing Chester as he is an upgrade to a below average offensive line and is also a great fit in offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan’s outside zone blocking scheme. Chester who played for Shanahan when he coached in Washington has experience at all three interior offensive line positions and should slot-in as the starting left guard in Atlanta. Vaughn McClure of ESPN.com reports that the deal is for one year, $2.8 million.
