It’s Week 10 in the NFL regular season and every fantasy football owner is positioning their team to get into the fantasy playoffs. It is crucial to review the matchups and get your best lineup in for this week. The Lions get a Browns team that has struggled all season long in defending the pass. The Giants whom have their own concerns matches up against a 49ers run defense that has been non existent. The Jets/Buccaneers have a sneaky matchup that can result in a lot of fantasy points on both sides of the ball. Then you have the teams like the Broncos, Packers and Texans where their quarterback play makes it hard for you to trust any of their dynamic offensive weapons. Good Luck to you all and hopefully CPGM can help get your fantasy team to eat the “W” this week.
Fantasy Football Start/Sit Week 10
Start – Matthew Stafford vs Browns
Over the last three games Matthew Stafford has been lighting it up throwing for an average of 365 yards against the Saints, Steelers and Packers defense. The Packers have struggled against the pass this season but the Steelers and Saints boast two of the best secondaries in the NFL. The Lions offensively show zero interest in running the football especially after Ameer Abdullah’s fumbles last week and will be relying on the right arm of Stafford. The Lions get a sweet matchup this week against a Browns defense that has been stout against the run which in turn funnels a lot of passing yards against them. The Browns ranks 29th in opposing quarterback pass percentage, 31st in opponent passer rating and has given up the second most passing touchdowns in the league. Stafford is a good bet to get his fourth consecutive 300 yard passing game and throw for at least 2 touchdowns.
- Dak Prescott vs Falcons
- Jared Goff vs Texans
- Josh McCown vs Buccaneers
- Cam Newton vs Dolphins
Sit – Philip Rivers vs Jaguars
This sit has nothing to do with Philip Rivers and everything to do with the Jacksonville Jaguars pass defense. If Rivers struggled against a Patriots defense in his last contest then what do you think he will accomplish against the best pass defense in the league? Not only will he be under siege all day long as the Jags lead the league in sacks (35), but he will also struggle to throw the football on the perimeter with Jalen Ramsey and A.J. Bouye lurking. It is not safe to target fantasy players against Jacksonville’s defense so stay away if you can.
Start – Orleans Darkwa vs 49ers
They’re safer starting options below but I want to highlight a player in Orleans Darkwa that fantasy owners might overlook. Not the sexiest of names, Darkwa plays on a Giants football team that seems to have given up on their head coach and folded up their tents for the remainder of the 2017 season. However, you should always play the starting running back against the 49ers. The Niners defense has been atrocious while their offense hasn’t made it any better by coming off the field quickly which puts even more pressure on an already bad defense. They rank dead last in rushing yards allowed per game, opponents rushing carries and 31st in rushing touchdowns against them due to teams always gaining a lead and running the football. Darkwa is a game script back who excels when his team doesn’t fall behind and can run the football for tough yardage. This game against the 49ers should not get away from the Giants which allows Darkwa to get his 20+ carries. Start Darkwa this week as he should enter into the RB1 stratosphere.
- Jordan Howard vs Packers
- Alvin Kamara vs Bills
- Jerrick McKinnon vs Redskins
- Bilal Powell vs Buccaneers
- Christian McCaffrey vs Dolphins
DeMarco Murray vs Bengals
To start or not to start DeMarco Murray is the question for his fantasy owners each week. There are many questions to consider when making that decision. Is he healthy? How will he split carries with Derrick Henry? Will the game script get away from the Titans offense? Who will get the goal line carries? There are too many variables to consider for me to trust Murray this week against the Bengals. Murray only received 9 carries and 37 snaps last week due to him coming off the field with a knee injury. The Titans are saying Murray is healthy for this week but I wouldn’t play Murray over Henry. I am an owner of both these backs and will feel a lot safer in starting Henry as he is the healthier of the two and typically gets the goal line carries.
Start – Golden Tate vs Browns
You already know I’m loading up on the Lions passing offense this week against the Browns pass defense. Stafford should get Golden Tate and Marvin Jones involved in the offense early and often. Like I mentioned above in my Stafford blurb, the Lions want to pass the football with their 62% pass-play percentage. Lewis has been the big play guy of late but Tate is fully healthy after his shoulder injury. Look for him to rack up huge yardage after the catch against the Browns secondary as you can put him down for at least 7 catches 100 yards and a score. That’s wide receiver 1 numbers as far as I’m concerned.
- Marvin Jones vs Browns
- JuJu Smith-Schuster vs Colts
- Robby Anderson vs Buccaneers
- Robert Woods vs Texans
- Devin Funchess vs Dolphins
- Sterling Shepard vs 49ers
Emmanuel Sanders vs Patriots
The latest podcast from CPGM had a request “slap” of John Elway as he has not solved the Broncos quarterback issue and has reverted back to Brock Osweiler. Yes the same Brock Osweiler who was the worst quarterback in the NFL last season. The putrid play at that position is bad news for Emmanuel Sanders and company. In what could’ve of been a nice matchup for the Broncos offensive players against the Patriots defense is no more as Osweiler is down right terrible. I could’ve picked on Demariyus Thomas on the other side but Sanders is still not 100% from his ankle injury and is as risky as it gets. Look for other options this week.
Start – Austin Seferian-Jenkins vs Buccaneers
In a game of lifetime backup quarterbacks there is revenge on the mind of both Josh McCown and Ryan Fitzpatrick. The quarterback situation does not have the name appeal but I’m predicting a lot of offensive production in this one. The Buccaneers defense is one of the worst in the league and Austin Seferian-Jenkins like his quarterback is a former Buccaneer looking to have a huge revenge game in this contest. The referees has been unkind to ASJ this season taking away 2 of his touchdowns on bad calls. If it wasn’t for those calls ASJ would be at 5 touchdowns for the season. McCown loves his tight ends so I’m expecting for him to feed the former maligned Bucs tight end which makes ASJ a must start this week.
- Cameron Brate vs Jets
- Kyle Rudolph vs Redskins
- Vernon Davis vs Vikings
Martellus Bennett vs Broncos
The release of Martellus Bennett from the Packers and the Patriots claiming him off waivers might give fantasy owners excitement going forward. He goes from quarterback Brett Hundley to the GOAT Tom Brady who Bennett won a Super Bowl with last season. Yes he is in a better situation but pump the breaks this week as Bennett is battling a torn rotator cuff and will be behind Rob Gronkowski. Bennett is not a viable fantasy option until he proves he is healthy.

Detroit Lions vs Browns
The Lions are getting a lot of love in this post and deservedly so as they play the 0-8 Cleveland Browns. The Browns have arguably the worst offense in the league under Hue Jackson scoring the fewest points per game in the NFL and turning the ball over a league high 21 times. Stream away as I don’t see the Browns getting it together after their bye week.
