Fantasy Football Start/Sit – Week #11

Fantasy Football Start/Sit – Week #11

Start – Derek Carr vs Lions

The sophomore sensation Derek Carr can’t be stopped right now and has had a remarkable season thus far averaging 266 passing yards per game, five 300 yard games including three straight, and 21 TDs to only 6 picks. Even in a bad matchup last week against a tough Vikings defense, Carr still managed a respectable fantasy outing throwing for 302 yards and 2 TDs. A must start every week, Carr gets a favorable matchup against a Lions team who has struggled all season against the pass. The Lions had success last week against Aaron Rodgers early on but could not play a complete game allowing Rodgers to go “cashews” in the fourth quarter finishing with a 300 yard game of his own with 2 TDs. Expect Carr to put up big numbers this week, start that guy.

Notables – Matthew Stafford vs Raiders, Tony Romo vs Dolphins, Mark Sanchez vs Buccaneers

Sit – Teddy Bridgewater vs Packers

Teddy is still my guy but he is behind Carr in terms of playing the quarterback position. The biggest difference between the two young signal callers is Bridgewater’s reluctance to throw the ball downfield. Check down Teddy is risk-averse which makes him a better real life quarterback compared to a fantasy quarterback. The Vikings brass has no worries playing a smash mouth style of football, playing tough defense and handing the ball to Adrian Peterson. In a favorable matchup against a Packers defense that is going the wrong way, I still can’t start Teddy ballgame.

Notables – Kirk Cousins vs Panthers, Jay Cutler vs Broncos, Andy Dalton vs Cardinals

Running Back

Start – Charcandrick West vs Chargers

Those of you that saw my add/drop post the week after Jamaal Charles went down with a season ending knee injury should be ecstatic about the decision to scoop up West over teammate Knile Davis. West is now a must start each week with his ability to be “Charles-lite” racking up all purpose yards by the boat load. Coach Andy Reid has an affinity for running backs with an all-purpose skill set going back to his days as the Eagles coach with Brian Westbrook. West is his new toy and will get the majority of touches going forward. This should be another big week for West who faces a Chargers run defense which allows 122 rushing yards per game and is dead last in giving up 20+ yard rushes.

Notables – Latavius Murray vs Lions, Jonathan Stewart vs Redskins, Chris Ivory vs Texans, Demarco Murray vs Buccaneers

Sit – Eddie Lacy vs Vikings

SMH as I shovel more dirt on Eddie Lacy’s 2015 season and fantasy year. The biggest fantasy bust title goes to Lacy this season as he has failed to make an impact in an Aaron Rodgers led offense averaging a minuscule 3.7 yards per carry for only 308 yards and 2 TDs. Now he is the number 2 back behind James Starks and should be kept on your bench until you see life or agility or speed or a loss in weight.

Notables – Alfred Morris vs Panthers, Alfred Blue vs Jets, Melvin Gordon vs Chiefs

Wide Receiver

Start – Davante Adams vs Vikings

21 targets Wow!!!!!! Rodgers sure loves Davante Adams as he targeted him a whopping 21 times last week against Detroit. The Vikings defense is nothing to play around with but the sheer volume alone for Adams puts him on the WR2 radar this week. Adams has made Rodgers’ presumed favorite target, James Jones, irrelevant.

Notables – Jordan Matthews vs Buccaneers, Mike Evans vs Eagles, Stevie Johnson vs Chiefs, Danny Amendola vs Bills

Sit – DeSean Jackson vs Panthers

“Norman Island” awaits the now healthy DeSean Jackson this week and it won’t be pretty as Josh Norman has been exceptional all season long. Not only does the matchup scream “Sit” but Jackson’s quarterback, Kirk Cousins, does not throw the ball downfield with accuracy. I see a quiet and lonely game for Jackson.

Notables – T.Y. Hilton vs Falcons, Emmanuel Sanders vs Bears, Mike Wallace vs Packers

Tight End

Start – Antonio Gates vs Chiefs

QB Phillip Rivers probably doesn’t recognize the guys he will be throwing the ball to on the outside with the injuries to his Top 2 receivers Keenan Allen and Malcom Floyd. But the good news for Antonio Gates owners is that he will recognize his safety net for the last decade, his BFF tight end who should be peppered with targets in this contest. Although Gates is not at 100% he should still have a big game with a score.

Notables – Eric Ebron vs Raiders, Zach Ertz vs Buccaneers, Jason Witten vs Dolphins

Sit – Jimmy Graham vs 49ers

The Seattle Seahawks big offseason trade for TE Jimmy Graham has not worked out thus far as they still haven’t figured out how to truly use their big star tight end. Adding more fuel to the decision that hasn’t panned out is the player that they traded to the New Orleans Saints, Max Unger. The center had been the glue to an offensive line that has struggled mightily this season. Graham still has some time to get it together but I’ll pass on him this week against Navarro Bowman and the physical Niners defense.

Notables – Richard Rodgers vs Vikings, Jordan Cameron vs Cowboys

Start – Bears D vs Broncos

Who really thinks Brock Osweiler is the heir apparent to Peyton Manning? Not me, but he gets a chance to prove me wrong. The Bears are a good streaming option this week.

Sit – Bengals D vs Cardinals

The Cardinals can’t be slowed down if Carson Palmer is healthy and I believe they continue to roll. Sit the Bengals D.
