Fantasy Football Waiver Wire (Add/Drop) – Week 9

Add – Jimmy Garoppolo – San Francisco 49ers

While many were preparing to watch Monday Night Football, the 49ers made a deal to acquire the well sought after Patriots backup quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo. The 49ers gave up a second round pick, which will most likely be a top pick in the 2nd round, for a quarterback they hope to be the future of their franchise. Jimmy G has been on the trade block for a couple of years now as he has flashed in the preseason and his 2 starts for a suspended Tom Brady last year. He will not be a fantasy asset immediately, therefore the other quarterbacks below will be better short term options for your team, but if you play in a dynasty/keeper league now is the time to pounce on his potential. Garoppolo will probably get a couple of weeks to learn Kyle Shanahan’s offense before the Niners Week 11 bye, for this reason Week 12 is a realistic opportunity to see what Garoppolo can be as a starting NFL quarterback.

Other Players who deserve an Add

  • Jared Goff Los Angeles Rams
  • Josh McCown New York Jets
  • Case Keenum Minnesota Vikings

Drop – Trevor Seimian Denver Broncos

Running Backs

Add – Marlon Mack Indianapolis Colts

“Return of the Mack” Well, the emergence of Marlon Mack in the Colts backfield is a thing that fantasy owners should take notice of. The Colts aren’t going anywhere this season and it is best for them to play their young guys moving forward. Frank Gore is a legend but Mack is the future. Although the rookie didn’t have much success on the ground last week, he received the most carries he’s had all season (11) and got in the end zone. As the Colts dismal season continues and they get further and further out of playoff contention, the more of Mack we will see. Beat everyone on the wire and scoop a player that can be a difference maker in your fantasy playoffs.

Other Players who deserve an Add
  • Alex Collins Baltimore Ravens
  • Orleans Darkwa New York Giants
  • Alfred Morris/Darren McFadden Dallas Cowboys
  • Danny Woodhead Baltimore Ravens
  • Andre Ellington Arizona Cardinals

Drop – Mike Gillislee New England Patriots

Wide Receivers

Add – JuJu Smith-Schuster Pittsburgh Steelers

Mr. “Twitter Fingers” himself Martavis Bryant, was inactive in last week’s game which gave way for a star to be born in JuJu Smith-Schuster. The rookie out of USC exploded for 193 yards a touchdown in his first career start. The Steelers have quite a conundrum moving forward in terms of who gets the majority of snaps at WR2. My bet is on JuJu as he has developed a rapport with Ben Roethlisberger and has added  youthful exuberance and camaraderie to a Steelers football team that is hitting on all cylinders right now. Smith-Schuster is a must add on your fantasy teams.

Other Players who deserve an Add
  • Josh Doctson Washington Redskins
  • Cooper Kupp Los Angeles Rams
  • Robby Anderson  New York Jets
  • Tyler Lockett Seattle Seahawks
  • Paul Richardson Seattle Seahawks
  • Robert Woods Los Angeles Rams

Drop – Willie Snead New Orleans Saints

Tight Ends

Add – Vernon Davis Washington Redskins

Surprise! Jordan Reed is back on the injury list with his fourth different ailment in just half the season. I should’ve known last week to never trust a Gator as Reed killed me in DFS. Enter Vernon Davis who has played well in relief over the last couple of seasons for Reed. Kirk Cousins and the Redskins seem like they’ve lost trust in their outside receivers which funnels a lot of targets to their tight ends and backs. Stream Davis this week and going forward as he will be a TE1 in a much maligned position group.

Other Players who deserve an Add
  • Austin Hooper Atlanta Falcons
  • Tyler Kroft Cincinnati Bengals

Drop – Eric Ebron Detroit Lions
