Fantasy Football Waiver Wire (Add/Drop) – Week 4

That’s the NFL I know. The Any Given Sunday mantra reared its ugly head for NFL teams and fantasy owners. The 3-0 Eagles totally dismantled the Steelers while shutting down their potent offense and the Rams dropped almost 40 points on the Buccaneers and now sit atop the NFC West. The fantasy football’s top wide receiver entering Week 3 Kelvin Benjamin was held without a catch while only being targeted once in a loss to the Minnesota Vikings. The beast they call Julio had only 1 catch against one of the worst pass defenses in the league despite the fact that the Falcons dropped 45 points in that game. Carson Palmer, Phillip Rivers and Ben Roethlisberger stunk it up this past week. But the worst performance of all was Ryan Fitzpatrick’s 6 interception game against the Kansas City Chiefs. Let’s see what Week 4 brings us, here are the top waiver wire additions for Wweek 4.

(Add recommendations will include players owned in less than 50% of leagues)

Add – Trevor Siemian Denver Broncos

Dak Prescott and Carson Wentz still under 50% ownership have set the world on the fire in their first 3 career starts and are better options in the long term. I recommended Prescott as the premier QB add last week and Wentz is on his bye this week; therefore second year quarterback Trevor Siemian who is 3-0 in his first 3 career starts too is the guy to grab this week if you are in need for a bye week replacement or need QB help. After a pedestrian first two weeks where Siemian played game manager, he exploded in Week 3 throwing for 312 yards and 4 touchdowns against the Cincinnati Bengals. The Bengals focused on stopping the Broncos’ potent rushing attack and challenged Siemian to beat them with his arm. And boy did he. Siemian threw the ball downfield to Emmanuel Sanders and Demariyus Thomas. Look for teams to continue this philosophy of challenging Siemian until he starts to consistently pick defenses apart. Take a look at the upcoming Broncos schedule and you see why you should go scoop up Siemian. Week 4 Tampa Bay, Week 5 Atlanta. Week 6 and 8 San Diego, Week 9 Oakland, Week 10 New Orleans. Nice!

Other Players who deserve an Add
  • Dak Prescott Dallas Cowboys
  • Carson Wentz Philadelphia Eagles
  • Ryan Tannehill Miami Dolphins

Drop – Marcus Mariota Tennessee Titans

Running Backs

Add – Jordan Howard Chicago Bears

Jordan Howard entered the season as the backup running back in a three headed committee. Jeremy Langford seemed to have been the heir apparent for Matt Forte and Kadeem Carey who always seemed to have a role on the Bears offense. Injuries to the Bears backfield has turned what was once a committee to a one man show, and that man is Howard. I believe Howard should be the top guy to target this week as Langford will be sidelined up to 6 weeks and newly signed Joique Bell will be the only back left to spell Howard. So far Howard has had a very small sample size only carrying the ball 12 times. However, he has looked good averaging 5.6 yards a carry and has flashed another facet in his game as a receiver out of the backfield. The Bears need to stay in games and the best way to do it will be the patented Head Coach Fox way by running the football and playing tough defense. They get to attempt this feat against the Detroit Lions this week who give up a league worst 5.1 yards per carry.

Other Players who deserve an Add
  • Darren Sproles Philadelphia Eagles
  • Dwayne Washington Detroit Lions
  • Wendell Smallwood Philadelphia Eagles
  • Kenneth Dixon Baltimore Ravens

Drop – Jeremy Langford Chicago Bears

Wide Receivers

Add –  Terrelle Pryor Cleveland Browns

This guy Terrelle Pryor is the one stop shop for offense in Cleveland. Already down Corey Coleman and Josh Gordon, Pryor was targeted a team high 14 times catching 8 passes for 144 yards. At the quarterback position the Browns are without Robert Griffin and Josh McCown which led Hue Jackson to rotate Cody Kessler and the former college QB Pryor. Pryor also lined up at running back and safety in this contest. With him being the focal point of the offense he will be given opportunities to touch the ball at three different positions, you got to give him an add. Rushing yards, rushing touchdowns, passing yards, passing touchdowns all count for fantasy points. I was waiting for Pryor to throw a pass to himself.

Other Players who deserve an Add
  • Victor Cruz New York Giants
  • Kevin White Chicago Bears
  • Michael Thomas New Orleans Saints
  • Quincy Enunwa New York Jets
  • Jamison Crowder Washington Redskins
  • Adam Humphries Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Drop – Vincent Jackson Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Tight Ends

Add – Kyle Rudolph Minnesota Vikings

The self proclaimed best tight end in football, Kyle Rudolph is officially fantasy worthy after receiving 10 targets, and catching 7 of them for 70 yards and beautiful TD grab. New, Vikings quarterback Sam Bradford likes his tight end which enhances Rudolph’s fantasy outlook going forward. Rudolph has received at least 8 targets in all 3 games this season and should be a consistent force as the Vikings number 2 option in the passing game. Last season Rudolph stayed in pass protection quite a bit to help out a shaky Vikings offensive line. This year the Vikings offensive line has played much better allowing Rudolph to run more routes and showcase the potential that has been dormant over the last couple seasons. Look for the Vikings to keep targeting Rudolph in the red zone with the injury to Adrian Peterson.
