Fantasy Football Waiver Wire (Add/Drop) – Week 6

Add – Jacoby Brissett Indianapolis Colts

It was September 2nd a week before the regular season kickoff when the new Colts GM Chris Ballard made the biggest move of their season by acquiring quarterback Jacoby Brissett. With Andrew Luck’s health a huge question mark the Colts were heading nowhere fast with backup Scott Tolzien under center. Brissett thus far has gone 2-2 as a starter and is only 1 game behind the division leader Jacksonville Jaguars. It’s time to take him more seriously in the fantasy community as he has developed a rapport with TY Hilton, threw for his first 300 yard game last week and gives you an added boost as a runner with 3 rushing touchdowns this season. The legs on Brissett makes him a fantasy asset and the game script for the Colts offense should be playing catch up football more often than not. Brissett is still a young quarterback who will make his share of mistakes but if you’re a Marcus Mariota or Derek Carr owner, need a bye week replacement or in a two quarterback/deeper league then Brissett is a good add at this point.

Running Backs

Add – Wayne Gallman New York Giants

If you watch some of the CPGM videos on our YouTube Channel we have spoken endlessly on the New York football Giants offensive philosophy and their draft pick of Evan Engram in the first round. We weren’t fans in the least bit as the Giants didn’t address their offensive line in the off-season or in the draft until day three. While many were ecstatic about adding a dynamic game changer in the middle of their offense with Engram, I was disappointed with where this offense was headed with all flash and no substance. The Giants were unable to run the football last season and would face the same fate with all their new shiny receiving weapons. Call me “Headleydamus” as the Giants have started the season 0-5 while their offense has sputtered all season. The Giants need to develop a running game and play tough physical defense. They haven’t listened to me all season long but hopefully they do now and give the ball to Wayne Gallman. He is the best running back on their roster and he needs to touch the ball at least 20 times to take pressure off of their porous offensive line. The run game will set up the passing game for Eli Manning. Get Gallman on your roster as he is the only saving grace for a team who looks to be heading for the first overall pick in the 2018 draft.

Wide Receivers

Add – John Brown Arizona Cardinals

In a week where fantasy owners lost Odell Beckham for the season, there aren’t many receiver options to choose from in your waivers this week. Let’s head west to a player who has flashed on many occasions but eventually succumbed to injuries, John Brown. The Cardinals offense needs a huge reset button as Carson Palmer and Bruce Arians are unable to get any consistent traction without David Johnson in the backfield. Arians wants Palmer to throw the ball downfield in his vertical offense but the Cardinals don’t have the offensive line to hold up. A change in philosophy is needed but the stubborn Arians will continue to take shots down the field to Brown and company. Bad decision for their team but good for fantasy owners. Brown if healthy has the ability to take the top off of opposing defenses and has steadily improved his snap count since coming off the injury list. Brown is only going to get better as he re-develops his rapport with Palmer.

Tight Ends

Add – Austin Seferian-Jenkins New York Jets

Oh my! Now it’s time to talk about the maligned tight end position. It’s getting so bad with more injuries to the top tier guys at the position. Add Travis Kelce and Charles Clay to the injury list. After facing a 2-game suspension to start the season, Austin Seferian-Jenkins has lived up to the lofty expectations the Jets have been placing on him all training camp. I wasn’t a believer at first but in his first three games he has 18 targets and 15 receptions in the offense. Targets are something you want to look for at the tight end position and Jenkins is being fed in New York. Look for this usage to continue with Josh McCown under center as the veteran quarterback is known to lock onto a tight end throughout his career. Grab Seferian-Jenkins if you’re like most of us with a need at the tight end position.

Other Players who deserve an Add
  • Jack Doyle Indianapolis Colts
  • Ed Dickson Carolina Panthers
  • George Kittle San Francisco 49ers

Drop – Eric Ebron Detroit Lions
