Jets sign former Patriot Stevan Ridley

AFC East Update

The New York Jets agree to terms with former Patriots running back Stevan Ridley on a one-year deal worth $1.25 million containing just $80,000 guaranteed. Coming off multiple knee ligaments tears, Ridley could not fetch more money on the open market and decided to sign a one year “prove it” deal with the Jets in new offensive coordinator Chan Gailey’s offense. Ridley a two down back, will battle with Chris Ivory and Bilal Powell for carries in a spread offense that doesn’t feature the power running game as much. Ridley simply hasn’t been able to get on track since breaking out for 1,263 yards in 2012.
