RB Pierre Thomas was released from the Saints today. This will be the first of many moves for the franchise this offseason as the Saints currently have a catastrophe of a salary cap with over $20 million over the cap. Cutting veteran running back Thomas who’s role was diminished last seasons saves only $1.735 million against the cap. The move has more to do with the Saints wanting to go in a different direction and having a replacement in Travis Cadet already on the roster. Thomas’ eight year run with the Saints is now over but not before he played an essential role in Sean Payton’s offense and winning a Super Bowl in 2010.
