AFC West Update
The Silver & Black have inked former Arizona Cardinals’ nose tackle Dan Williams to a contract averaging about $6 million a year with roughly $15 million in guaranteed money according to Kent Somers of AZCentral.com. Williams is a space eater that excels against the run. The Raiders were in negotiations with Terrence Knighton who played for Raiders’ head coach Jack Del Rio in Denver. However, negotiations broke down and the Raiders moved on to Williams, certainly not the player Knighton is but is definitely more than a consolation prize.
Former member of the Atlanta Falcons and most recently the New Orleans Saints, Curtis Lofton, signed a 3-year $18 million deal. Lofton is a two-down linebacker in the twilight of his career but is expected to be the defense’s signal caller and provide leadership on the field and in the locker room.
