The Baltimore Ravens, a team cash strapped since giving Joe Flacco that huge contract have parted ways with perennial pro bowler and the anchor of their defense, Haloti Ngata, for a fourth and fifth-round pick. Unable to reach a deal to restructure Ngata’s contract the Ravens shipped the defensive tackle to the Lions who replaces Ndamukong Suh for a slight discount. All-in-all a great pickup for the Lions and the interior of their defense considering not only the loss of Suh but the fact that defensive tackles Nick Fairley and C.J.Mosley are unrestricted free agents as well. As for the Ravens, general manager Ozzie Newsome creates some cap room flexibility and adds a couple additional draft picks to play with. Expect second year pro Tim Jernigan out of Florida State to slide into the starting lineup and take over in place of Ngata.
