NFC North Update
After being arrested on Monday for domestic violence and child endangerment for allegedly assaulting a woman while she was holding a baby, Ray McDonald was arrested for the fifth time since 2010 on Wednesday for violating a restraining order that stems from Monday’s arrest. That’s twice in three days! The Chicago Bears had hoped that McDonald would serve as a first-string five-technique as the Bears change their defensive strategy but the team released the troubled defensive end promptly after Monday’s arrest. Ray McDonald signed with the Bears earlier this off-season but it came with a strict no-tolerance policy which McDonald has violated, obviously. Wednesday’s arrest marks the third time in nine months that McDonald has been arrested in connection to violence against women. Considering the NFL’s heightened awareness and sensitivity regarding violence against women and children on the heels of the Ray Rice, Adrian Peterson and Greg Hardy incidents it may not be out of the realm of possibility that Ray McDonald’s career in the NFL is over. At the very least a lengthy suspension is all but certain.
