Start/Sit – 2019 Fantasy Football – Week 12

Fantasy Football Start/Sit Lineup Decisions Week 12

By: Jarred David @ricco_3733

Week 11 is finished. The last of the Bye weeks are here. By now, however, most leagues have established at least their top few teams in the playoffs. In two of the three leagues I am in, there are about nine teams battling it out for playoff hopes. Team Byes include Arizona, Kansas City, Los Angeles Chargers, and Minnesota.

Quarterback Starts of the Week

Derek Carr @ NYJ – The Jets allow the 12th most passing yards and 9th most points per game. Carr is yet again a viable streamer.

Jameis Winston @ ATL – Yes, I know Jameis is a turnover machine. However, he flashes his big game from time to time. What better way than a Falcons defense that have allowed the sixth most passing yards per game and seventh most points per game. This has potential to be a shootout.

Honorable mention for Bye Week:  Baker Mayfield vs Miami; Ryan Tannehill vs Jax

Quarterback Sits of the Week

Nick Foles @ TEN – The Tennessee Titans have a very solid defense. They allow the yards but not the points (19.7/game). Expect high-end QB2 numbers from Foles at best.

Daniel Jones @ CHI – Danny Dimes hasn’t been horrid, but I still value the Bears defense over Jones’ playmaking ability at the rookie level. Look for other options this week.

Running Back Starts of the Week

Jaylen Samuels @ CIN – We are back to the James Conner injury train. He has hurt me among many of my teams this season. Even though there may be a committee approach, I still expect Samuels to be a volume based RB2 with RB1 upside against the lowly Bengals defense.

Mark Ingram @ LAR – This may be against the “common sense” starts I’ve mentioned last week. However, Lamar Jackson takes the majority of the yards and keeps defenses awkward. Even against a Rams top 5 against the run, expect LJ to stagnate the defense and start Ingram as a safe RB2 because of it.

Honorable mention: David Montgomery vs NYG

Running Back Sits of the Week

Josh Jacobs @ NYJ – The Raiders and Jacobs have greatly exceeded expectations so far. I still place Jacobs as a mid-range RB2 due to volume. However, the Jets allow a league best 79.1 yards per game on the ground. That’s not very enlightening, temper expectations.

Brian Hill vs TB – Brian Hill, who has failed miserably the past two weeks as a starter, has officially blown his opportunity in my eyes. Throw in Tampa Bay’s second best defense against the rush and send Hill packing.

Wide Receiver Starts of the Week

Dede Westbrook @ Ten – I’m expecting Logan Ryan to focus on DJ Chark. This should open up opportunities for Foles to find Westbrook in this particular game. Consider this my unexpected start of the week.

Allen Robinson vs NYG – Even with Trubisky throwing (do we call it that?) the football, Robinson has been the lone bright spot on the Bears offense. Although the Bears are struggling offensively, this is a terrific matchup to start Arob with confidence.

Honorable Mentions:  Jamison Crowder vs. OAK; Kenny Golladay @ WAS

Wide Receiver Sits of the Week

John Brown vs DEN – Although John Brown has been on fire and has an unbelievable chemistry with Josh Allen, Chris Harris is awaiting the matchup, which should cause you to greatly temper expectations. I believe the deck is poised to JB fizzling this week.

DeVante Parker @ CLE – Parker has surprised all of us this year, I’m sure. However, Denzel Ward is ready to become good friends with Parker this weekend. In summary, temper expectations from the unexpected breakout year from Parker.

Tight End Start of the Week

Ryan Griffin vs OAK – The Raiders coverage has been spotty. Griffin has been inconsistent but provides solid streaming value.

Cameron Brate @ ATL – It may be worth monitoring this week one last time, but Howard seems to be in coach Arians’ doghouse. If that’s the case, Brate is a streaming option against Atlanta.

Ross Dwelley vs GB – This is ONLY IF KITTLE IS OUT! Otherwise, release him.

Tight End Sit of the Week

Outside of the top four usual performers, the position has been a plague for fantasy owners. Whether it be injuries or lack of production, the matchups here are dart throws to me beyond the usual starters.

Defense Starts of the Week

CLE DST vs MIA – Picking on Miami again, as I’ve promised you would happen. They’ve shown flashes of ability though, but not enough for me to not pick on them.

OAK DST @ NYJ – Although there are gaps in the passing game, I’m going to take my chances with Chucky’s defense this week.

Defense Sits of the Week

CAR DST @ NO – The Saints offense has always been respectable. Even if you are considering the Panthers defense this week, respect the Saints offense again. Don’t play the Carolina defense.
