AFC North Update
Defensive end Cameron Heyward and the Pittsburgh Steelers have agreed to a contract extension worth $59.2 million over six years. The 26-year-old Heyward is coming off his best season as a pro with a career high 7.5 sacks in 2014 which also tied for the team lead. The sack totals appear relatively modest, but are solid in terms of a 5-technique defensive end in an odd man front. Heyward earns his snaps based on his strong play against the run but it appears that the Steelers’ organization believes there is more room for Cameron to grow as a pass rusher.
I love this organization! Very blessed and excited about continuing my career as a Steeler! #somanythanks #greatday pic.twitter.com/kcil0bsHal

Signed through the 2020 season the Pittsburgh Steelers manage to lock up what they consider to be a cornerstone piece to a much maligned defense the past couple of seasons. The son of former NFLer Craig “Iron Head” Heyward, Cam will look to continue to anchor the Steelers down-line for years to come.
