Stephen Gostkowski NFL’s richest kicker

Stephen Gostkowski

AFC East Update

Justin Houston, Dez Bryant and Demaryius Thomas weren’t the only players tendered the franchise tag earlier this offseason. The New England Patriots didn’t want to let their highly effective place kicker Stephen Gostkowski hit the open market before they could agree to a long-term deal and tendered Gostkowski the 1-year $4.59 million franchise tag for kickers. Gostkowski immediately signed the deal and was ultimately rewarded with a 4-year $17.2 million deal making him the league’s highest paid kicker. As long as Tom Brady is upright Gostkowski remains a safe bet to be among the NFL’s leading scorers in the 2015 season.
