Steven Jackson released by Falcons

NFC South Update

The Atlanta Falcons saved $3.75 million against the cap with the release of veteran running back Steven Jackson. The 31-year-old back played the last two seasons in Atlanta in which he battled injuries and was not as productive as many Falcon fans had hoped. With Devonta Freeman as the main back in the offense now, the Falcons will now look to free agency and/or the draft to find a running back to pair with Freeman who appears to be an ideal fit for offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan’s zone blocking scheme.
