Thursday Night Football – Preview 10/20/2016

Chicago Bears at Green Bay Packers, Thursday October 20 on NFL Network at 8:25pm eastern

Another divisional game tonight that will feature Aaron Rogers and a Packer offense that is struggling to say the least. The Packers have traded for running back Kniles Davis from the Chiefs because both Eddie Lacy and James Starks are on the shelf. The Bears on the other hand may have found something in quarterback Brian Hoyer who in four straight games now has moved the Bears offense for at least three hundred yards through the air.

Chicago Bears – It seems as though for “Da Bears” they are finding out what they have depth wise on their roster and to be honest the depth looks promising. Jordan Howard, Cameron Meredeith, Brian Hoyer, and too many defensive players to name, have become starters due to plenty of injuries and they are playing well. This only bodes well for this team and lets me know they are headed in the right direction. As for tonight I’m not sure what to expect from the Bears, they are on the road in a Thursday night game all be it a divisional rivalry.

Green Bay Packers – Aaron Rogers right now is playing like A-A-Ron. WHAT IS WRONG WITH THE GREEN BAY PACKERS OFFENSE!?!?!? I may have a answer or two. For one I think the league has caught up to the Packers and there offense. What exactly have the Packers changed within player personnel. We know they don’t spend money on big name free agents. We know they are one of the best teams in developing their own, but there comes a time when you have to make a move that will put you over the top. If you don’t think this to be true look at the Cincinnati Bengals. Even the Patriots have dabbled in the Free Agency pool. The Packers are facing an injury riddled Bears defense with a suspect secondary, which makes me think Aaron not “A-A-Ron” shows up  tonight, but just tonight.

For the degenerate gamblers out there the point spread is (-6.5) Virginia Tech and the Over/Under is 52.

Miami Hurricanes at Virginia Tech, Thursday October 20 on ESPN at 7 pm eastern time

What can I say about these two programs. Miami I had high hopes for but just disappointed, losing the last two games. First to FSU, who in their own right is a disappointment. Then to probably the best team on that side of the conference in UNC. While Tech loses to a Syracuse team, that just can’t happen.

Miami Hurricanes – That Saturday night going into the FSU game many thought the “U” was back  but we found out that wasn’t true and after last week’s loss to UNC we definitely know this, the “U” isn’t back.  A top prospect in Brad Kaaya hasn’t looked the part too much this season leaving a lot to be desired. Mark Richt is a coach who can recruit and in my opinion is the right guy for the job and just will take some time to get Miami back to yesteryear minus the NCAA violations.

Virginia Tech – After crushing UNC 34-3 one would think that the Hokies have a legitimate shot at running the table in the ACC coastal and playing for the conference title. That took a bit of a hit last week with that lost to the Orange Crush. They still have at shot at running the table and it starts tonight against Miami. The Hokies have a couple of wide receivers that can play and one in particular that I think will be playing on Sunday in Isaiah Ford who is a fun player to watch.

For the degenerate gamblers out there the point spread (-6.5) Viriginia Tech  and the Over/Under is 52.
