AFC East Update
New England Patriots
The league has come down strong on the New England Patriots for the “deflate gate” scandal suspending 4-time Super Bowl Champion Tom Brady 4 games for his role in using under inflated footballs to gain an advantage in the playoff game against the Colts. In a saga that has grabbed headlines for weeks prior to the Super Bowl and months after the Patriots’ stunning Super Bowl win, the long anticipated fall-out from the “Wells” report citing Brady’s misgivings has been levied. The league also stripped the Patriots of their 2016 1st round draft pick and 4th rounder in 2017, in addition to fining the franchise $1 million. Brady will more than likely appeal the suspension which could potentially lead to a reduction of his suspension. But as it stands he will miss September matchups against the Pittsburgh Steelers, Buffalo Bills, Jacksonville Jaguars, and Dallas Cowboys. Second year pro Jimmy Garoppolo will be the starting QB to begin the 2015 season for the New England Patriots.
